Layers of Beauty!!!

    In order to define layers of beauty, one must first know what is beauty.

    Some Google answers:

    The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.

    Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning, or satisfaction.

    In simpler words anything which is good for eyes, good to feel is beautiful.

   However, just like there are multiple definitions of the term beauty, so are its various layers. While the layers start from outward and go inwards towards character, the final or the supreme layer goes upwards towards spirituality.

    Without confusing these things, let's start with the layers, the first or the outer layer is called plastic beauty. A form of beauty which is decorated for the purpose of being watched, being observed. A bouquet decorated with thermocol balls, jewelry put on view in exhibition, or a ramp walk of a super model.

    A next layer which is very much close to it is natural beauty. The concept is very well described by Kalidas in his play, “Abhigyan Shakuntalam”. He has used terms, “Udhyan Lata” and “Van Lata” which mean flowers which grow under constant supervision of expert gardeners and flowers which grow without any help or proper mentoring in jungles respectively. Later ones are examples of beauty of the next level. The fact that they do not have artificial fragrance, they are untouched from the outer world and demand your efforts to reach to them beautifies them further.

    Next layer is where life enters. A beauty of relations. When you like talking to someone, where you care and being cared, where you share. This is called inner beauty when you are won by qualities and not by attributes. The beauty which lasts in your mind for hours even after separating from it. By each passing layer, it becomes difficult to find that particular form of beauty.

    So even more difficult form is the next layer, which actually is responsible for making things beautiful. This is the kernel. The reason which makes things beautiful is more beautiful than beauty. What makes thing beautiful is not just qualities or attributes, but the fact that there is someone to appreciate. A reason which turns a bud into a flower, a look, a scan that turns a baby to baybe ;-). It is like a painting is beautiful, but credit must go to an artist who fills colors in it.

    Anyone who has the capacity to fill colors, beautify an object or at least value it, should have the power to own it. But the problem with owning a beauty is you have to witness its beauty fading. There is only one form of beauty which is eternal and that is the supreme layer. Something on which you can rely even when you pass through the ugliest phase, because It has the capacity to color your life & terminate all your sorrows. And this Supreme form is the most difficult of all to find. :-).
